The Chilean antarctic station Presidente Teniente Carvajal Villaroel is established on the south-west corner of Adelaide Island and was initially named "Base T-Adelaide" and continiously occupied by the BAS since 1961 until 1977.
Then, the station was transferred to Chile in 1984 and renamed Teniente Luis Carvajal Villaroel and has been used as summer station only.

Today Chile has stopped the occupation but the Navy continues to visit the station periodicly, like the staff of Rothera Station in order to check good repair of the buildings.
