Located on the edge of the Antarctic Peninsula, in the area known as Bahia Esperanza. This station was founded on March 31st of 1952.
It appears as a small village, composed of 13 houses, surrounded by mountains, glaciers and the sea.

There operates the southern most short wave radio station in the world LRA 36 -15.476 kHz AM 10 kW.

In addition, the base operates a nursery where the first antarctic baby was born. Since then, seven more babies have been born in the clinic.

Scientific activities at the station include : biological experiments, oceanography, seismology GPS, etc.
