Melchior is a former Argentine Antarctic field station, located on Gamma Island (also named Observatorio Island). Managed by the Argentine Navy, it was first opened on March 31st of 1947 and remained operational during the summer for many years.

In 1961 Melchior Station was officially designed as temporary station.

The average annual temperature is -3°C, the warmest record was 10°C, the coldest record was -36°C.
